New Brunswickers donate more than $44,000
to support MADD Canada
Alcool NB Liquor customers showed their
support for the efforts of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Canada to
stop impaired driving by donating $44,107 between Nov. 26 and Dec. 3.
Alcool NB Liquor staff asked customers to
make a $1 donation to MADD Canada during the seven-day campaign.
"The response to Alcool NB Liquor’s prompted
donation campaign from New Brunswickers was overwhelming," said
Dana Clendenning, president and CEO of Alcool NB Liquor. "The people of New
Brunswick have opened their hearts
and wallets to this very important cause."
Alcool NB Liquor and MADD Canada’s
long-standing partnership promotes responsible consumption of beverage
alcohol,
and warns of the consequences of driving while under the influence.
"MADD Canada is absolutely thrilled with the
financial success of Alcool NB Liquor’s prompted donated campaign," said
Andy Murie, CEO of MADD Canada. "Half of the $44,107 raised will be used to
support MADD Canada’s high school
multimedia programs in English and French, and the other half will go to
MADD Canada’s New Brunswick chapters to
support Campaign 911 programs in their communities."
Alcool NB Liquor previously held a three-day
donation campaign on the weekend of Sept. 3-5.
"On the weekend of Sept. 3-5, our retail
staff collected $30,587 in donations from New Brunswickers," said
Clendenning.
"This is a clear indication of the interest in MADD Canada’s mandate, and I
would personally like to thank the public for supporting this important
community cause."

Alcool NB Liquor wins award for web-based
anti-drinking-and-driving campaign
Alcool NB Liquor was honoured at the recent
2009 Innovation, Creativity and Enterprise (ICE) Awards with the Fearless
Client Award for the social responsibility campaign, Paul’s Story. The award
was presented at a gala ceremony celebrating
the best in advertising creative from across Atlantic Canada.
"On behalf of Alcool NB Liquor, I am
extremely pleased that Paul’s Story not only resonated with the target
audience, but
was also recognized for its creativity in reaching the elusive
16-19-year-old male demographic in our province," said Dana Clendenning,
president and CEO of Alcool NB Liquor. "As part of our social responsibility
mandate, we created Paul’s Story
to build awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving, of allowing
friends and family to drink and drive, and of getting into
a car with an impaired driver."
The corporation launched a series of 10
web-based videos, collectively known as Paul’s Story, on YouTube and
Facebook
in April 2008. The videos feature bilingual actors illustrating the story of
Paul, a fictitious New Brunswick teenager, coping
with the aftereffects of killing and injuring his friends after deciding to
drink and drive. The story was enhanced and extended
by comments posted to the videos, photos posted to Flikr.com, and through
discussions which took place on New Brunswick Facebook pages and blogs.
Paul’s Story was endorsed by Mothers Against
Drunk Driving (MADD), Teens Against Drinking and Driving (TADD N-B), the
New Brunswick Advisory Council on Youth, the New Brunswick Police
Association, and the New Brunswick Association of
Police Chiefs - Traffic Subcommittee.
The ICE Awards are organized by Atlantic
Canadian advertising and marketing professionals to celebrate creative
advertising made in Atlantic Canada. Alcool NB Liquor was recognized for its
risk tolerance and willingness to be aggressive in the marketplace.
