Graduating from high school and going to
university are exciting times in a young adults life. Finding your way
around, fitting in and meeting new people are some of the first challenges.
Another challenge is making appropriate
choices when it comes to drinking.
According to the World Health Organization,
32% of undergraduates reported hazardous or harmful patterns of
drinking on campus.
A 2004 Canadian Camps Survey which was
conducted by the Center of Addition and Mental Health found that in
the Atlantic provinces heavy and frequent drinking was slightly higher than
the Canadian average. 22.5% vs. 11.7%,
and 24.5% vs. 16.1% respectively.
At ANBL, we recognize that making good
choices about the responsible consumption of alcohol starts with good
information. We will continue to work with New Brunswick universities
and colleges to deliver important information
regarding the responsible use of beverage alcohol.
